Currently there is not much activity in the athletic shoe market. New Balance has a few models made here but I know longer see them marketing that fact and I'm afraid it is going away.

The American shoe market will support big prices for athletic shoes, however it seems to be tied to big time sponsorship and endorsements. Nike for an example pay workers in Asia $75.00 per month to make the shoes, they pay their American workers in the US very well and they pay millions maybe billions in sponsorship and endorsement rather than build a brand on quality and features. The American market for athletic shoes is all about the marketing and little to do with the manufacturing.
